Dalton James Cook, age 32, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at his home.  He was born December 27, 1991 in Terre Haute, IN the son of James Arlen Cook and Sherry Lynn Chronic.

Survivors include his dad, Jim Cook (Nancy) of Oblong, IL; mother, Sherry Chronic of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Desrea Cook of Martinsville, IL and Taylor Jodry of Oblong, IL; nephews, Sylas James Cook and Sawyer Tatem Reid Cook; many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and his dog Zoey.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Wilma Cook and Willard and Shirley Chronic.

Dalton James Cook had the heart of a lion and love to make anyone and everyone smile.  He loved nothing more than his dog Zoey.  Dalton enjoyed logging and hard work outside, fishing, camping and writing music.  He lived on the wild side of life; he enjoyed motor cross and riding his Kawasaki KX as fast as possible.  Dalton was “My Sister’s Protecter” and the best big brother to Desrea Cook.  He was an amazing “Uncle Dee” to his two nephews, Sylas James and Sawyer Tatem Reed Cook. 

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Sweitzer officiating.  Burial will follow in Bean Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
