William Carlyle Oliver, age 74, passed away Friday August 30, 2024, at his residence in Berea, KY. He was born December 3, 1949, in Richmond, KY to the late Robert and Nellie Abney Oliver. William was a former resident of N. Middletown, KY in Bourbon County, and a graduate of Kingston High School in Madison County. He was an avid pool player, a river rat enjoying his days on the Kentucky River, former constable in Madison County, KY, coin collector, a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed watching Westerns. William loved UK Basketball, George Jones, Elvis, and most of all spending time with family. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by seven siblings, Opal, Katherine, John, Rondall, Marvin, Charles, and James “Whitey.”
He is survived by one daughter, Janie Winkler and her husband George of Berea, KY, three brothers, Daryl Oliver and his wife Pauline of Jeffersonville, KY, Cloyd Oliver and his wife Vada of Richmond, KY, Wallace Oliver of Richmond, KY, three grandchildren, Derek Winkler and his wife Brooke, Dustin Winkler and his wife Kelcey, Courtney Winkler White, and seven great grandchildren, Caden, Braxton, Karlee, Jaxen, Arionna, Cassidy, and Delaney. Several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Visitation will be 1:00PM – 3:00PM Tuesday September 3, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 3:00PM. Bro. Larry Scott Barnes is officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery in Waco, KY. Pallbearers will be George Winkler, Derek Winkler, Dustin Winkler, Caden Winkler, Braxton Winkler, and Wayne Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Lyle, Bill Lyle, Greg Lyle, and Tom Lyle.
