CHURCHVILLE – Mary Ruth (Simmons) Rexrode, 78, of Churchville, passed away Friday (August 30, 2024) in her home.

Mary was born in Highland County on January 27, 1946, a daughter of the late Virgil Roscoe and Elizabeth Frances (Hamilton) Simmons. She was a graduate of Highland County High School.

She was employed by American Safety Razor for 25 years prior to retirement, and was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. Mary was a genuine people person; she especially loved entertaining, shopping, and keeping up with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald C. Rexrode; six sisters, Ruby Gail Simmons, Faye Cleek, Virginia Neff, Edna Booth, Betty Hodge, and Nancy Hatcher; and a brother, Wayne Simmons.

Surviving are three children, Sherry Cox and husband Ray of Churchville, Gary Rexrode of Fishersville, and Shelby Spradlin and husband Donald of Staunton; four grandchildren, Katie Rexrode Vaughn and husband Nathan, Jacob Rexrode, Josh Spradlin and fiancé Hannah Simmons, and Taylor Spradlin; four great-grandchildren, Bryson Spradlin, Aiden Vaughn, Nolan Vaughn and Waylon Spradlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 2 in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Phillip Morgan.
