Raymond M. Smith, age 60 of Grafton went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2024 surrounded by his family. He fought many health battles in recent years but never lost his faith in God's mercy and His amazing grace .Ray is the eldest son of Raymond & Joyce Smith of Grafton and was born February 24, 1964 in Weston, West Virginia. Ray leaves behind his loving wife and high school sweetheart Tammy Mae ( Stout ) whom he was married to for 41 years. Ray and Tammy shared a lifetime together of love and laughter and raised 3 children and had 4 grandchildren that he dearly loved. Ray enjoyed the simple things in life like good food, sweet tea, Andy Griffith reruns, fishing, camping, family gatherings, playing guitar working in his yard, front porch sitting, trips to Amish country and helping his wife with her small business Tammy Mae Chocolates, cupcakes and cookies. A big fan of traditional country, bluegrass and southern gospel music, he was never happier than when traveled for several years performing in several groups singing and playing his guitar. Ray was a 1982 Midview High School graduate and worked in several positions for Darcie ( dba Pat Catans ) from 1984 to 1999. A second career as an auto consultant earned him multiple " Salesman of the Month " and "Salesman of the Year" awards. He had worked for Spitzer Auto World, Jack Matia Chevrolet and Nick Abraham Buick GMC. Ray was a 35 year member of the Grafton southern Baptist Church where he was baptized and stayed until it's closing. He was currently a member of the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Ray is survived by his wife Tammy Mae ( Nee Stout ), children Amber ( Andrew ) Greenhill of North Eaton, Brandon Smith of Elyria and by his mother Joyce Smith of Grafton. Survivors also include his brother Randy ( Becky ) Smith of Elyria and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Courtney P. Smith, father Raymond A. Smith, grandparents Clarence Smith, Margaret ( Hurst ) Smith and Freda Carson. Visitation will be held on Monday September 9, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM in the Duke Funeral Home 1021 Main St. Grafton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 11 AM in the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church 39888 Parsons Rd. Grafton with Pastor Joe Dossa officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family suggests that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
