Billy Edd “Eddie” McCarrell, 82, of Cooper, Texas passed away Friday August 30, 2024, at his home.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday September 1, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Cooper, Texas, Reverend Larry Maynard will officiate, with interment to follow at Oaklawn cemetery. Family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Saturday August 31, 2024, at Delta Funeral Home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Aaron Deatherage, Taylor Lumsden, Mike Yates, Cameron Haley, Dylan Worden, and Hadley Worden, Honorary Pallbearers: Creighton Lenahan, and Jase Miller.

Eddie was born in Cooper, Texas, October 16, 1941, to H.C. and Estelle (Rutherford) McCarrell. They preceded him in death as well as a brother Roddy McCarrell.

Eddie was a veteran of the United States Army where he served the balance of his enlistment in France. Eddie was a hard worker serving in several positions during his lifetime, including store manager at Locke Supply and Henslee Hardware. After retirement he worked at Cooper Elementary, where he was a favorite of not only the students, but also the teachers. He was a member at First Baptist Church.

"Papa Eddie", as he was referred to by many people, touched many people's lives with his kind and gentle spirit. To know him was to love him.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn McCarrell of Cooper, Texas, son: Scotty Deatherage and wife Marlana of Cooper. Texas, daughter: Dionne Lumsden and husband Kevin of Royse City, Texas, grandchildren: Danielle Lumsden, Whitney Yates and husband Mike, Taylor Lumsden, Kara Turner, Aaron Deatherage and wife Mallory, Kourtney Haley and husband Cameron, great grandchildren: Riley Yates, Levi Yates, Jameson Turner, Maverick Turner, Landrey Deatherage, Aubrey Deatherage, Porter Haley, Creede Haley, and Oaklen Haley, brothers: Bobby McCarrell and Randy McCarrell, sisters: Debbie Stringfellow, and Sue Johnson, beloved niece: Chasity Lenahan and husband Cameron and family, as well as a large extended family.
