Janet J. Darling, age 92 of Eau Claire passed away early Friday morning, August 30, 2024 at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living in Altoona.

She was born the only child to Walter and Lily (Stirling) Reich Nov. 19, 1931 in Marshfield, Wis. She graduated from Independence High School in 1950 and attended the summer session of business education at the Eau Claire Vocational School. She lived and was employed in Eau Claire until her marriage to Robert E. Darling August 22, 1954 at the Independence Methodist Church. They lived in Black River Falls until 1959 when they moved to Eau Claire.

They retired to the town of Brunswick in Eau Claire Co. where they built their own country dream home in 1984. Her first job in Eau Claire was in the Register of Deeds Office. Her other places of employment included the Eau Claire Police Dept. City Hall, Jackson Co. Clerk of Courts, University of Eau Claire, Eau Claire Elementary School Secretary at Sam Davey and Locust Lane, Sunburst Youth Homes and Eau Claire County Airport as well as various other professional establishments over a period of 36 years. She took pride in her skills to serve her employers and the public.

She had been a member of Whitehall Eastern Star, Wesleyan Circle of Lake Street Methodist Church where she was a member from about 1951. She was also involved in the PTA at Sạm Davey School and Campfire Girls. She had many interests especially enjoying traveling, a passion for the Packers/Brewers, and spending time with her family and friends. Being a "grandma" was one of her greatest joys. She loved the great outdoors & country living. The family pets were great companions and essential to her well being.

She asks she be remembered kindly in thoughts and prayers on her journey to final peace.

She is pre-deceased by her parents and husband, Robert.

She is survived by her daughter Marla (Todd) and her granddaughter Danielle (Matt).

Private family committal services will take place a Prairie View Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials in Janet's name are preferred to the Eau Claire Humane Society in Eau Claire.
