Donald Bischoff Obituary

Donald Michael Bischoff, the son of Peter and Margaret (Volk) Bischoff was born on April 11, 1940 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 84 on Friday, August 30, 2024 under the care of hospice and his family at Bethany Retirement Living Center in Fargo, North Dakota.


Donald was raised on the family farm south of Berwick, North Dakota. He attended rural school through the 8th grade and graduated from Rugby High School in 1958. On March 5, 1959 he was inducted into the United States Army, where he served until his honorable discharge on February 24, 1961. Following his discharge, he worked on the Minuteman Missile. He was married to Irene Bischoff from December 31, 1963, until 1985 and was blessed with five children, Todd, Mark, Joel, Wade, and Cory. Donald made his home in Rugby, where he helped his dad farm as well as worked for Farmers Union and Bankers Life Insurance. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his garden, hunting, fishing, going to auction sales, and loved to spend time with his family. He was blessed in his 84 years and will be missed.


He is survived by his children, Todd (Susan) Bischoff of Fargo, Mark (Deborah Ryan) Bischoff of Fargo, Wade (Christine) Bischoff of Wahpeton and Cory (Susan Wolf) Bischoff of Fargo; grandchildren, Kelly (Jay) Enebo, Tracy Bischoff, Christy (Shelby) Stewart, Lindsay (Christian) Opp, Todd Jr. Bischoff, Jessica (Christopher) Bischoff, Joel (Kristina) Bischoff, Aaron Hendrickson, Randa Bischoff, Mya Bischoff, Justus Bischoff, Sydney Bischoff and Kayley Bischoff; great-grandchildren, Javin Bischoff, Kadin Bischoff, Jacoby Bischoff, Raiden Opp, Kealan Enebo, Mylo Bischoff, Brynn Enebo, Jack Bischoff, Lewyn Opp and Bayley Bischoff; siblings, Daniel Bischoff of Arlington, WA and Donna Pike of Grand Forks; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Joel, his infant siblings, Sylvia and Nicholas Bischoff, and his parents and grandparents.


Mass of Chrisitan burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial and full military honors to follow at the church cemetery. Father Franklin Miller, Celebrant.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.
