Our loving mother, Hazel Leber Goodwin went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2024 after a 6-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Hazel loved animals and NASCAR. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was truly loved by them. She will be greatly missed by all of those that knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Leber Soucy (Tom J. Soucy) of South Carolina; son William R. Leber, Jr. (longtime companion Dorothy Brooks); daughter Bobbie E. Leber; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Leber, Sr.; her second husband, Hugh L. Goodwin III; and her granddaughter, Stephanie M. Soucy.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local no kill animal shelter in memory of Hazel.
