Meloney Grace Badgley, cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 17, 2024, at the University of Michigan Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. The third of four children born to Grace Ellajean and Melville Henry Nichols in Jackson, Michigan, Meloney entered this world on August 16, 1957, at Foot Hospital. She attended Schoolcraft Community College, majoring in clerical studies, and worked at the University of Michigan Pathology Laboratory and the St. Joseph Hospital Outpatient Clinical Laboratory. Later, Meloney attended the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in East Lansing, Michigan, where she became a licensed cosmetologist. In her youth, Meloney enjoyed sailing, ice skating, and water skiing on Big Wolf Lake in Jackson. The real joy in her life came from spending time with her family at their home in Michigan Center, on Big Wolf Lake near Grass Lake, and on Anna Maria Island in Florida. She enjoyed collecting rocks and crystals and made friends wherever she went. Meloney was often the life of the party with her bright personality and fun stories. Meloney was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Ellajean (Snyder) Nichols and Melville Henry Nichols Jr. She is survived by her husband, Mark Earl Badgley of Michigan Center, Michigan; her children, Alaina Grace DeJonghe of Michigan Center, Michigan, and Olivia Noel DeJonghe (Emily Paski) of Lansing, Michigan; her stepson, Donald Nicholas Badgley (Michelle) of Adrian, Michigan; her grandchildren, Lincoln Maxwell Cole and Harper Grace Cole of Michigan Center, Michigan, Otto Michal Ryan Paski and Ira Kai DeJonghe of Lansing, Michigan; her siblings, Randal Bruce Burnett of Los Angeles, California, Timothy Jay Nichols (Suzanne) of Winter Park, Florida, and Laura Ann Brown (Bruce) of Gregory, Michigan; her nephews, Dustin Timothy Nichols (Anna) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Darin Paul Nichols, and Alisha Ann Nichols of Winter Park, Florida; and her grandnephews, Joseph Timothy Nichols and Jacob William Nichols of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
