Daniel E. Staiger Jr., 89 of Fredericktown passed away on August 30, 2024, at The Ohio Eastern Star Home. He was born on March 2, 1935 to Daniel E. and L. Ellen (Grubaugh) Staiger in Fredericktown, OH.
Daniel was a Fredericktown High School graduate of the Class of 1953. He then joined the US Navy and served from 1953 – 1974. Daniel served in the Navy Air Service as a Crew Chief. When he retired, he was a Chief Petty Officer. Daniel was a Scottish Rite 32 Degree member, a Shriner, a member of the OES Glenwood Chapter 303, Moose Loges and the Fraternal order of the Eagles 141. He enjoyed cooking and spending the winters in Florida.
Daniel is survived by his daughter Traci (Tom) Durbin of Fredericktown, OH; grandchildren Kacey (Karter) Shinaberry, Kylee Staiger, Kristin Staiger and Aleksandr Staiger; great grandchildren Kennedy Shinaberry, Kamden Shinaberry, William Staiger; sisters Joan Conkle of Mount Vernon, Kim Staiger of Mount Vernon, Ada (Russ) Carey of Mount Vernon; a brother Danny (Shirley) Kelly of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Staiger III, a brother Raymond Kelly, brother-in-law Clyde Conkle and a sister Thelma Frye.

Calling hours will be Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Cornerstone Community Church of Fredericktown, 123 Columbus Road, Fredericktown, OH 43019 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Funeral Services at 1:00. Graveside services will follow at North Fork Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
