Sandra Joyce McMichael, of Galena Park, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at the age of 76. Born on February 10, 1948, to the late Dorothy (McGuire) and Howard Stokes, Sandra grew up in a nurturing environment that shaped her into the compassionate person she was known to be.
A proud graduate of Galena Park High School's class of 1968, Sandra carried the lessons learned and friendships made throughout her entire life. She was a lifelong resident of the area, having been raised in Jacinto City, Texas, where she later met and married her beloved husband, Thomas McMichael, who predeceased her. Together, they created a loving home filled with joy, laughter, and the aroma of Sandra's famous baked cakes.
Sandra's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She leaves behind a legacy through her cherished sons, Howard McMichael and his wife April, and Edward McMichael and his wife Martha. Her nurturing spirit extended to her sister, the late Barbara McKee; her nephew, the late John McKee; and she is fondly remembered by her nieces Debbie Hightower and husband Derek, Jennifer Fingleman and husband Allen; nephews Kenneth McKee, and Shawn McBroom; along with her brother and sister-in-law Charles and Theresa McMichael; and numerous great-nieces and nephews who were all touched by her generosity and love.
Sandra's passion for life was evident in her many interests. She was an avid gardener, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Her culinary skills, especially her baking, brought people together and made any occasion special. Sandra's love for animals shone brightly through her adoration for her dogs and cats, each of whom she treated as part of the family. Her home was a gallery of her arts and crafts, and her collection of owls was renowned among her friends and family.
Known as a good listener, Sandra had the rare gift of making everyone she spoke to feel valued and important. She loved talking to people, sharing stories, and imparting wisdom in the most gentle and unassuming way. Her ability to connect with others was truly exceptional, and it is this quality that will be most profoundly missed by all who knew her.
As the sun sets on Sandra's journey here on earth, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and in the beauty of the world she cherished. Her love was a gift to us all, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will endure in the lives of those she loved.
