William Montgomery, Jr., age 76, affectionately known as “Uncle William” and “Coach Montgomery”, transitioned on Saturday, August 17, 2024. William was a native of New Orleans, LA and attended Joseph S. Clark Senior High School. He was born on August 21, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Daisy J. Montgomery, Sr, and 2 siblings, Marshall and Ophelia “Gail” Montgomery. He leaves to cherish his memories 4 children, Rhonda (Darren) Lee, Sr., Wendell (Mecca) Barnes, Tomiko (Marcus) Ladkin, and Ravin St. Julien, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings, Barbara Mitchell, Rose L. Slack, Will (Alta), Ernestine, Lawrence and Jacqueline Montgomery, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family, friends, NORDC staff, state and local area boxing teams, USA Boxing staff, are invited to a special viewing on Thursday, August 29, 2024, 6:00–7:00PM at Professional Funeral Services, 1449 N. Claiborne Ave., NOLA. Celebration of Life Service Friday, August 30, 2024, 10:00AM at Professional Funeral Services. Visitation 8:00AM until service. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
