Rodney Finch Haizlip, 76, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on August 25, 2024. Born on November 4, 1947, in Amagansett, NY, he was the son of the late June Haizlip and the late Jack Haizlip. Rodney was the loving husband of Geraldine Haizlip, whom he married in 1971 in Caribou, ME. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Mike Haizlip of Drayden, MD, Lori Haizlip of Mechanicsville, MD, and Lynn Haizlip Porter (John Porter) of Leonardtown, MD, his sister, Jacquie Withers of FL, his grandchildren, Chelsea Haizlip, Zachary May, and Jeremy Haizlip, and three great grandchildren. Rodney was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Haizlip, and his granddaughter, Katie Haizlip.
Rodney graduated from Princess Anne High School, Virginia Beach VA, in 1965, and attended Old Dominion University. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, from 1967 to 1987. Rodney was a management officer for the Department of Defense for 21 years until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, pool, darts, softball, and fishing, and loved watching the NFL, with the New York Giants being his favorite team.
