Sidney Dan Stumpmier, age 81, of Carleton, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in the comfort of his home.

Born on March 15, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan, he was the son of Daniel C. and Kathleen (Hanlon) Stumpmier. Sidney graduated from Airport High School in 1961, and Michigan State University in 1966. On November 16, 1963 he married Anna Tilley at Evangelical United Brethren Church in South Rockwood.

He was a life long farmer, starting with his grandfather at the age of 14. He also was the owner of the Waltz Feed Store for 50 years.

He enjoyed hunting, reading, driving around looking at crops and spending time with his family. Sidney also enjoyed spending time and deer hunting at his other farm in Homer, Michigan.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Abe Hussein.

He is survived by his wife, children, Julie (Scott Warren) Stumpmier and Daniel (Barb) Stumpmier; grandchildren, Kyle, Amber, Cheyann and Ryleigh; great-grandchildren, Paityn, Dahlia, KJ, Landon and Logan; siblings, Nancy (Don) Wilkey and Kathy Hussein.

Memorial Visitation will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waltz Chapel on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11:00 am. Pastor Jeffrey Wade will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
