Oliver "Snubb" Goldston Obituary

Longtime Seminole resident Oliver "Snub" Goldston 98, passed away August 24th at Shinnery Oaks Community Rest Home in Denver City. He was born to William Melvin and Alva Rena Goldston on June 12, 1926, in Gomez, Texas. He attended school in Tokyo, Texas and later Brownfield, Texas. He grew up on a cotton farm and learned about hard work as a young kid. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands and later in Tokyo, Japan where he proudly served as a member of General Douglas McArthur's Honor Guard Company. Upon returning home, he ran the family farm as his father's health was declining.

He married Wilma Jean Price on June 12, 1954, in Levelland, Texas. They were married for 67 years until she passed away in September of 2021. They lived in Seminole for about 40 years and raised their 3 kids there while Oliver made a living in the Oilfield. He retired from Amerada Hess in 1986. A few years later, they moved to Lake Brownwood to enjoy retirement.

Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, one son, Matt, his parents and 14 brothers and sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Terry Elder and Mike of Seminole and a son, Kelly Goldston and Mary of Zapata, Tx., and 3 grandkids, Cole Elder and Addie of Seminole, Josh Elder and Mary of Seminole, and Zack Goldston of Cuero, Tx., 5 great grandkids, Lauren, Landon, Reagan, Luke and Jax and numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.


Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with service to follow at 10:00 A.M. and then graveside service at Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Lake Brownwood at 4:30 P.M.
