Leslie Larkin Fanning, born on July 29, 1957, in Orange, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Asheville, NC, at the age of 67. Leslie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to caring for and giving to others. She lived a life of epic proportions, touching countless lives along the way. She was deeply loved by many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Leslie's faith was an integral part of her life, and she loved attending Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, FL. She was also a committed participant in the 12 Step Fellowships. Her spiritual community provided her with strength and support, which she generously shared with those around her. Leslie traveled the world and was a lover of all things beautiful.

Throughout her life, Leslie touched the hearts of many with her kindness, compassion, and fierce and unwavering spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eric Fanning, Sr.; her father, Robert Larkin; her grandparents, Leslie and Lillian Larkin and Warner and Faith Bush; her brother, Keith Larkin; her mother-in-law, Marge Fanning; and her fathers-in-law, William Fanning and William Frantz.

Leslie leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters, Lisa Ball-McIsaac and her husband Adam, who was like a son to Leslie, of Swannanoa, NC, and Veronica Ball of Asheville, NC; her son, Eric Fanning Jr., of Asheville, NC; her devoted mother, Martha Reynolds; her sister, Sherry Chase, and her husband Richard; all of her fur grandbabies; her sister-in-law, Pamela Lanier, and her husband Randy; her niece, Brandi Lanier; her nephews, Cole Chase and Glen Lanier; the Fanning family; and special friends Linda Becker, Deirdra Madgey, Denise Justice, Brittany Turner, Sherri Sloan, and many, many others.

Leslie resided in Broward County, FL, for most of her life, where she built lasting friendships and made a significant impact on her community. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A celebration of Leslie's remarkable life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 21 at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville.  An additional service in South Florida to be determined. 

Leslie Larkin Fanning's life was a beacon of hope and compassion, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
