Phyllis Mattive, 89, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Berwick.
Born March 18, 1935 in Bulls Gap, TN, she was the daughter of the late Charles Carroll and Thelma (Smith) Michel.
Mrs. Mattive was employed as a seamstress for Milco later retiring as a Nurse’s Aide.
Phyllis was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Berwick, and a social member of the Ranger Hose Company.
She enjoyed sewing and sitting on the porch with her friends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Francis Mattive, who died May 15, 2004; and her brother, Cecil Carroll.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Thomas Francis Mattive, Jr. and his wife, Windy, of Shamokin Dam; two daughters: Pamela Suzette Dehn and her husband, Arnold, and Penny Lane Shaffer and her husband, Dennis, all of Berwick; Six grandchildren: Nicholas, Nevada, Cody, Emma, Tanya and Tony; thirteen great-grandchildren: Genevieve, Damien, Duke, Edrik, Aurora, Gabriel, Alexandria, Gabriel, Hannah, Elena, Sabastian, Trevor, and Anthony; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilson of Phoenix, AZ.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Chestnut Street, Berwick, with Pastor James Winder of Cornerstone Bible Church officiating.
Interment will be in Otes United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bulls Gap, TN.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., Berwick.
