Exell Sims Obituary

If you are holding this program with my handsome picture on the front, I am gone to see the King! I wouldn’t think of coming back! I am NOT joking or laughing, as most of you have seen me do. I am off to the Promised Land! Believe me; this was not my choice, but I had to leave so I could join the heavenly choir. I’m sorry I left rather unexpectedly. I thought I had more time, and I didn’t get to say good-bye; however, this was God’s Plan—only he knows why. I was in great physical pain, but God didn’t allow me to suffer too long. I had to answer when He called my name.

I was born Exell Sims. My family and friends affectionately called me “X Factor” or just “X”. I was born on March 31, 1963, in Marianna, Arkansas (AR).

I left this earthly vessel early morning on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the John L. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR. For you see, I had asked for forgiveness and rededicated my life to Christ. I knew even through my pain, that my Heavenly Father was just to forgive me.

My parents, Isabell (Collier) Sims and Edward Sims, my maternal and paternal grandparents, my sisters Mattie Davis, Clengie Mae Francisco, and Aretha Sims-Harper, and brother Harvey Sims preceded me in death.

God gave me many chances and even in my often-backslidden state, I definitely recognized the love, grace, and mercy of God. Rest assured, I knew the Lord!

I attended elementary, junior high and high school in Marianna AR. I graduated in the class of 1982 at Lee Senior High School and attended Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock, AR.

I joined the United States Navy in January 1983 and proudly served my country for over three years. I traveled the World and saw many wonders. Throughout the years, I worked in Hotel and Apartment maintenance. I also had a profound love for boxing, basketball, and refurbishing and rebuilding older vehicles; which I did until I was no longer physically able. I was in the middle of two projects when God called my name.

I will be greatly missed by my loving wife of 24 years, Patricia Sims; my daughter Erielle Sims of Little Rock, AR; Two bonus sons, Peter Robinson II and Patrick Robinson of Little Rock, AR; two bonus daughters, Cassandra (Demetrice) Swift of Jacksonville, AR and Ciara Robinson of North Little Rock, AR; One bonus grandson, Peter (PJ) Robinson III; three bonus granddaughters; Ashley (Leroy) Williams, Cassidy Boyd, Shania Robinson, Kiara Robinson, and Danielle Robinson all of Little Rock, AR;  one bonus great-grandson and three bonus great-granddaughters; two brothers, Edward Sims Jr. of St. Louis, MO and Terry (LaKisha) Sims of West Palm Beach, FL; four sisters, Verna Mae Sims of St. Louis, MO; Darlene Sims and Lynda Dickerson of Little Rock, AR and Anthalene (Steve) Hall of Sherwood, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
