Scott A. Burger of Scott City passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2024, in Springfield, MO. He was born on April 10th, 1965, in Cape Girardeau, MO. Scott's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the joy of simple pleasures.
His early years in Scott City laid the foundation for a life full of love and laughter. He was a proud graduate of Scott City HS and later furthered his education at Linn Tech.
Family was the cornerstone of Scott's life, and he took pride in his role as a father to his daughters Libby (Ben) Clark and Becky (Dakota) Nelson, and as a grandfather to the light of his life, Adalynn Nelson. Scott is preceded in death by his wife, April and father Ron Burger. His mother, Karen Burger, sister Tamara Crider, and brother Adam Burger, along with his nieces and nephews Caitlyn, Zach, Madison and Andrew will forever cherish their memories together.
Scott was a fourth-generation farmer. For over two decades, he also dedicated his talents to S&W Cabinets, where his craftsmanship was his passion. Scott's work ethic and skills were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Scott's life was rich with interests that brought him great joy. His love for country music was only matched by his passion for fishing, or keeping score of the latest Cardinal’s game. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6420, St. Joseph 4th Degree Assembly 2283 and founding member of both chapters SEMO 1-48 and Missouri Bootheel 1-58 of the Vulcan Riders Association. In his last years, Scott also cherished the time spent with his dog, Nieko, who was a constant source of happiness.
Those who knew Scott would describe him as funny, handy and a touch stubborn. His sense of humor brought joy to every gathering, and his ability to fix or build anything was nothing short of remarkable. Scott's passion was evident in everything he did, from his meticulous work to his dedication to his family and friends - opening his door to whoever needed him most. His fierce spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A celebration of life will be held at a later time - friends and family of Scott will be welcome. (Details will be sent out online after the arrival of his second granddaughter due in September.)
