Vera was born June 28, 1919 to Edwin and Christina Azevedo in Duval Sask. In 1922 they moved to White Fox area where she attended Waterview School and later moved to Pinehurst District.
Mom was the fourth of 8 with a sister Joan who passed at 15 months. Mom said she knew then her first born daughter would be named Joan.
Mom was working out at a young age cooking in sawmills and later cooked for 10 men for Jens Dahl.
In her early 20’s Mom and sister Grace went to Toronto as young women a big adventure. Mom worked in the Eaton’s factory but city life was not for her and she came back to Saskatchewan in 1945. End of World War II 1946 she married Orville (Tiny) Hagen. They had two daughters Joan and Betty. Mom was the homemaker when we were young. When we were older she worked for CSP Foods in the margarine plant. Later she planted trees under Wayne Fox which she loved. It was said no one could beat her planting trees.
On Mom’s 55th birthday she received her best present ever. Her only granddaughter BobbiJo was born and there was a special bond between them, but all her grandkids meant the world to her and until the time of passing every visit she would ask, have you heard from Bobbi or Deon, do you ever hear from Trevor. Where is Devin working this week? What are Sawyer and Finn doing? Sounds like Ava and Emily are working lots and Dakota is busy farming.
Mom outlived all her siblings. She was predeceased by her husband Orville in 1991.
She leaves with many treasured memories:
Daughters Joan (Dave) Kaiser and Betty (Myles) Agur.
Grandchildren: Trevor (Naidene) Shuh and Jordon
BobbiJo (Rick) Little, Ava and Emily
Deon Shuh and son Dakota
Devin (Jenn) Agur, Sawyer and Finn
Kyle (Shannon) Kaiser, Shyla and Kyesha
Kristie (Frank) Schultz, Franklin and David
Rest in Peace Mom. We will miss your love of family and life!
