Bill Gonzales Valenzuela, age 81, of Lovelady, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born March 14, 1943, in Pearsall, Texas to parents, Louis Valenzuela and Carmen Gonzales Valenzuela. Bill was the first in The Valenzuela family to graduate from high school and go to college. Bill was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving in the 94th Artillery Group stationed in Germany. He received medals for Expert Rifleman M-14 and Good Conduct and an Honorable Discharge in 1969. He also proudly served as a Sergeant of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, National Guard and in the Reserve of the United States Army. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1982 for his honest and faithful service. He worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 26 years, starting as a Correctional Officer and retiring as a Feed Mill Supervisor. His passion for education pulled him out of retirement and worked for Huntsville ISD for the next 10 years. Bill worked with the HISD Migrant Program acting as a Spanish Language Liaison assisting the Spanish-speaking community in their pursuit for a higher education. He stood boldly, he stood on truth, and he stood unwavering, putting on the full Armor of God; willing to suffer hardships, fulfilling his allegiance to God. His strong family values, high standards, and deep love for his family were examples to live by, to be cherished, to be respected, and to be commended.
Bill is survived by wife of 18 years, Kina Ureste Valenzuela of Lovelady; children, Bill and Lawanna Valenzuela of Magnolia, Melinda and Chuck Campbell of Huntsville, Rodger Valenzuela of Livingston, Odie and Fred Grube of Livingston; step-children, Ruby and Ringo Garcia of Houston, Rose Ann Cisnero of Houston, Yvonne and Abel Vega of Houston, Anthony and Anna Ureste of Houston; grandchildren, Trey and Keileigh Valenzuela, John Valenzuela, Kyla and Shane Posey, Michael and Gloria Warren, Jacob Valenzuela, Isaac Valenzuela, Samuel Valenzuela, Gabriel Valenzuela, Payton Grube, and Bolton Grube; step-grandchildren, Chubby Garcia, Jasmine Garcia, Damien Garcia, Mario and Susan Ureste, Tommy Cisnero, Clarisa Cisnero, Joshua Vega, Chastity and Bryan Quirarte, Ashlynn Ureste, Jayden Ureste, Haylee Ureste, Ava Ureste, Tara Morton, Renee Ureste, and McKenna Ureste; great-grandchildren, Olivia Valenzuela, Kaisen Posey, Landon Posey, Shayna Posey, Coby Warren, Maverick Warren, Ofelia Warren; step-great-grandchildren, Vincent Harris, Damien Garcia Jr., Andrew Ureste, John Ureste, J.J. Ureste, Addy Ureste, Xavier Cisneros, Hazel Cisneros, Weston Ureste, and Talsa Ureste; brothers and sisters, Irma and John Kurchak, Joe and Dina Valenzuela, Inelda and Esteban Renkiewicz, Alex Valenzuela, Diana and Mike Haranda, Ruby Valenzuela, and Roy Naranjo; sisters-in-law, Estella Perez, Maria Sombrano; numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by wife of 32 years, Ofelia Maldonaldo Valenzuela; parents, Louis and Carmen Valenzuela; siblings, Robert Valenzuela, Zenalda Fitzgerald, Yolanda Naranjo, Odessa Valenzuela, and Kathy Valenzuela; step-son, Gilbert Ureste; and sister-in-law, Lupe Belamares.
Funeral services for Bill Gonzales Valenzuela will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Trinity, Texas. Interment to follow at Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas. Rosary will be Thursday at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home in Crockett, Texas.
