Timothy Michael Lake Obituary

Timothy Michael Lake passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of Saturday, August 17th, at the age of 53. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, Tim later moved to Petoskey in 1998 after attending Western Michigan University. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Tim was the beloved husband of Melissa "Missy" Lake (formerly Betts) and a devoted father to his two children, Timothy Ray Lake (Timmy) and Jordyn Elizabeth Lake. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in his children's achievements. Timmy is currently attending Central Michigan University, and Jordyn is studying at Michigan State University.

He was the cherished son of Timothy Wilbur Lake and Jane Elizabeth Lake (formerly Stakoe), both of whom survive him. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Jennifer Weinberg (Rich), Chris Lake (Amanda), and James Lake, who will forever hold memories of their brother close to their hearts.

Tim was a man of many passions. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or playing golf. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula, where he could fully immerse himself in the beauty of nature. He also enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams and engaging in friendly games of backgammon with his family.

A hard worker with a big heart, Tim balanced his professional life as a residential appraiser with his roles at Boyne Resort, where he took great pride in maintaining the Bay Harbor golf course during the summer and monitoring the ski slopes in the winter. His dedication to his work and his community in Petoskey, Michigan, was evident to all who knew him.

Tim's infectious personality, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community. Though he has left this world too soon, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

An opportunity to gather with family and friends in Tim’s honor will be held at Genesis Church in Petoskey on Saturday, August 24th followed by a celebration of Tim’s life at the Bay Harbor Golf Club.
