Thomas Breason Deuble, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 67 in Buda, Texas, on August 17, 2024. Born on April 13, 1957, in Orange, New Jersey, Tom grew up to be a man of integrity, warmth, and humor.
Tom's life was one of dedication, love, and laughter. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston in 1975, and furthered his education through night courses at several esteemed institutions, including the University of Houston, UT Austin where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity in 1980, ACC, San Jacinto College, and Rice University. His thirst for knowledge was matched only by his passion for his work.
In 1975, Tom began his illustrious career as a general contractor. He quickly developed a love for concrete and its applications, a love that laid the foundation for his own company, D&D Foundations, Inc., which he started in 2004. For twenty years, he led his company with a commitment to excellence and a motto that reflected his thorough approach: "No Stone Left Unturned." His expertise was widely recognized, and in April 2024, he brought his passion for Retaining Side Walls to ERW Site Solutions as a Project Manager.
Tom's interests were as solid and enduring as the concrete he worked with. He relished traveling, hunting, fishing, and camping, always marveling at the beauty of nature with a special fondness for the fall season. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow and excel in their sports and various passions. A loving family man, Tom was a source of strength and inspiration to us all.
Tom's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Sonia Rocha-Deuble; his daughters, Annette Gafford (Cory) and Shannon Linzer (Zuri); and their mother, our friend Jewel ‘Miki’ Gibson, his bonus daughter, Sonia Bustos (Tyler Eastburn); his bonus son, Daniel Rocha (Alma Reyes); and his sister, Cynthia Pedigo (Daryl). He was a cherished grandfather to Kelly S. Linzer, Caleb C. Gafford, Ashlyn N. Gafford, Nick A. Rocha, Julian Gudino, Robert J. Rocha, Daniel Thomas Rocha, and Derek P. Rocha. Tom also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Manuela "Mamie" Rocha, who he helped cared for. His nephews Jeffery Reed (Brooke), John Pedigo (Dee), and Zach Pedigo (Sari), great-nieces and nephews, along with his extended family and friends, will miss his presence deeply. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Deuble.
Tom's legacy of love and generosity will live on through the lives of those he touched. Those who knew Tom would describe him as loving, funny, and generous—a man whose presence could light up a room with laughter and whose generosity knew no bounds.
In reflecting on Tom's life, one is reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The purpose of life is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Tom truly embodied this sentiment, striving to make the world a better place for others and succeeding by every measure.
As we bid farewell to Thomas Breason Deuble, we are comforted by the indelible mark he has left on the world. His memory will be cherished, his lessons will continue to guide us, and his legacy will endure through the lives he touched. Tom's journey through life may have reached its sunset, but the warmth of his presence will continue to shine on all who loved him.
