Helen P. Hockensmith Obituary

Helen P. (Sponseller) Hockensmith, 91, passed Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness in Chambersburg.  She was the wife of the late Carroll H. Hockensmith, who passed June 11, 1997.

Helen was born July 23, 1933, in Hanover, the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Margie (Stremmel) Sponseller.

Helen worked at Kessler Shoe Factory in Littlestown, and K-Mart in Hanover.

Helen is survived by a son, Wayne F. Hockensmith and his wife Rose, of Gettysburg, a daughter, Lyn J. Krout and her husband Dean of Gettysburg, two grandchildren, Joe Hockensmith and his wife Christine of Littlestown, and Kerry Bly of New Oxford, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Nadine Myers, Naomi Sentz, Delores Kress, Charles Sponseller, Robert Sponseller, Shirley Myers, Burnell Sponseller and Norman Sponseller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10 AM, at St. Joseph “The Worker” Catholic Church, 12 E. Hanover St, Gettysburg, (Bonneauville) with Rev. Benny Jose officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
