Darrell Allen Burnsides, 61, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away at home Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Darrell was born on May 13, 1963, in Harnett County, and was a 1981 graduate of Fuquay Varina High School. He proudly served in the United States Army 5th Battalion 187th Infantry 101st Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1986. Darrell worked for over 30 years in retail as a manager. In August 1998, he married Vicki Erwin.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Wallace and Edna Brosset.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vicki; daughters, Jordan and Alexandra; one sister, Dawn Michelle and two brothers, Derek Goode (Dawn) and Allen Wallace (Stephanie); one special aunt, Aunt Kaye; one niece, Simone and three nephews, Tanner, Quinn and Ethan.
Darrell loved people and could always make you laugh. He has never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his positive attitude and charismatic personality. Darrell loved the outdoors and taking his kayak out whenever he could. He also loved camping and hiking in the woods. He and Vicki loved to travel and explore new places every chance they got.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point. Doctor James Summey will officiate. The family will receive visitors following the service at Cumby’s.
In lieu of flowers or donations the family asks that you take a moment to hug your loved ones or take a walk in the woods. Time waits for no one.
