Edna Jo Zeilman Obituary

Edna "Jo" Zeilman, 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2024. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her friends and family.

Born January 31, 1933, Jo was a devoted wife to the late William Zeilman and a wonderful stepmother to Ron Zeilman and Mary (Zeilman) Wells. Jo was also a loving step-grandmother to 8 grandchildren and to 14 great-grandchildren.

Jo may have been a tiny woman, but the impact she made on people throughout her life was enormous. And the kindness and joy that she radiated to those around her was simply contagious. To see proof of that, you'd just have to watch her in action at Hillebrand Nursing and Rehab Center, where she volunteered for more than 20 years. Jo was beloved for her work at the center, where she spent several days a week with the residents. She even received the Ohio Health Care Association Adult Volunteer of the Year award in 2010 and represented Ohio in the national Volunteer of the Year competition. But don't ask Jo if she was proud of her many volunteer accomplishments; she'd just tell you she loved helping people and making them happy.

Always fiercely compassionate, before Jo began volunteering, she had created a lucrative career at Gibson Greeting Cards for more than 40 years, where her work spread smiles.

She was also always passionate and meticulous about caring for her home in Cheviot.

Jo will be so dearly missed by her sister, Helen Thorpe; stepson, Ron (Nancy); stepdaughter, Mary (Sonny); all of her step-grandchildren, Bill Zeilman (Heidi), Jennifer Schultz (Tim), Josh Richerson (Laura), Leeanna Barnes (Damon), Katie Southerland, Chris Wells (Jamie), Derek Wells, and Nathan Wells; and her 14 great-step-grandchildren.

A funeral mass and ceremonies to honor Jo's life will take place Friday, August 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, OH.

Jo's warmth, dedication, and service to others will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jo's honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. Rita School of the Deaf, or St. Martins of Tours School.
