Tonelli, Freda Mary, (Pawson)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Freda, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Sudbury at the age of 90 years. Raised in Copper Cliff, Ont. and living her married & widowed life in the Gatchell area of Sudbury, spending her later years in “The Walford” retirement home.

She was born on November 30th, 1933, to Frederick Harold “Fred” Pawson born in North Bay, Ont., and Glefina Maria “Mary” Pawson (Paganucci) born in Depew, New York (both predeceased).

Freda is survived by her three brothers, Robert Alvin “Bob” Pawson (Alma), Harold Earl Pawson (Diane), and Hugh Frederick Pawson (Anne “Marie”).

She married Giuseppe “Joe’ Tonelli (predeceased in 1973) who immigrated to Sudbury from Fano, Italy.

Together Freda and Joe had three sons Giulio (Susan), Michael (Deborah “Debbie”), and Kim Tonelli all of Sudbury.

Freda is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Tonelli (Leslie), David Tonelli (Nicole), Justin Tonelli (Lianna), Tasha Radey (Scott), Leah Tonelli, Maija Tonelli, and Alexandra Tonelli as well as four great grandchildren Arya & Tristan Radey, Daniella & Julia Tonelli.

She was a faithful parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church in Gatchell, she loved cooking for everyone and gardening.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff of the Walford Residence and Health Sciences North (The A.R.C.C) for their care and compassion for Freda.

Per Freda's wishes a Funeral Mass will be held Monday August 26, 2024, at 11:00 am, at St. Anthony's Church.  The family will be in attendance Monday after 10:30 am at the Church.
