Alan Raymond Cummings Obituary

Alan Raymond Cummings of Nyack, NY died on Saturday, August 17, 2024. He was 74 years old.

Al was born on November 14, 1949 in Orange, NJ, the son of Ernest Raymond Cummings and Helen Hurring Cummings. He grew up in Orange, and later in Ramsey, NJ. He graduated from Ramsey High School in 1968.

Al is survived by his wife, Tracey Ann Cummings (nee Rose), a brother William Cummings and wife Sharon, a bevy of wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Al’s two sisters, Barbara Jennings and Dolores Purelli predeceased him.

Al began his work career at BSR as a line supervisor and continued at Capetronics working in logistics and shipping. At the advent of the computer age, he taught himself the various new programs and segued into the automobile industry. He worked for both Saturn and then Kia of West Nyack, starting as a salesman, then doing IT for the company along with human resources.

Al enjoyed many leisure pursuits. He rode his Harley motorcycle, crafted HO train layouts, cruised with Tracey all over the world, enjoyed video gaming and was a master jigsaw puzzler. He enjoyed completing projects at home or helping friends with projects. His mantra was “this job is a zip-zip.” It seldom turned out that way but the jobs always got done.

One of the things that gave him pleasure was buying gifts, especially bicycles for People to People at Christmas time. Please consider a donation to People to People in honor of his memory.
