Joshua J. Reed, 42, of Yorktown, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Josh was born on September 13, 1981, in Muncie, Indiana. He was a 2000 graduate of Yorktown High School. Josh owned and operated Reed’s Lawn Care. He served on the Yorktown Fire Department since 2002 and had previously served on the Cowan Fire Department. Josh enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his friends and family. He loved to take truck rides with his girl, his chocolate lab, Nova.

Josh is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Laura Reed; three sons, Grant Reed, Jackson Reed, and Hunter Reed; his father, Bradley Reed; mother, Nancy Reed (Greg Jenkins); his grandmother, Helen Reed; three sisters, Holly Amick (Andrew), Lindsey Reed, and Chelsey Swails (John); aunt, Pam Reed (Larry John); uncle, Brent Reed (Elaine);mother-in-law, Mary Huff-Campbell (Paul); sister-in-law, Erin Phillips (Tim Eakins); several nieces and nephews; and his brothers and sisters at the Yorktown Fire Department.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Reed.

A funeral service to celebrate Josh’s life will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Yorktown Methodist Church, 2301 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. A final ride on the Yorktown Firetruck with last call will follow.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Yorktown Methodist Church.
