Vincent Charles Simons-Morris (Chi-Muckwa “Big Bear”), 55, of Cass Lake, MN died Saturday, August 17, 2024.


Traditional services will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Veteran’s Building in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 22, 2024 and continue until the time of the service at the Veteran’s Building in Cass Lake. Interment will be at the Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN.


Vincent was born July 25, 1969 in Cass Lake, MN, the son of George White and Valerie Simons. He graduated from Bug-o-nay shig school. He graduated from Leech Lake Tribal College and worked for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe as an alcohol and drug counselor. He married Shelly Roy January 3, 2015. He was a pipe carrier, Sun Dancer, Song Holder, and active in practicing his traditional ceremonies. He loved his culture and helping people. He was a people person. He was a talented beader and very creative. He loved drumming and singing. He will be greatly missed by many.


He is survived by his wife, Shelly Morris, sons, Dylan and Cedric Morris, 10 grandchildren, aunt, Anita Simons, nieces, Valerie St. Cyr, Keyla St. Cyr, Faith Morris, and Danielle Morris, nephews, Reuben St. Cyr and Lakota Morris, and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his father, George White, mother, Valerie Simons, adopted parents, Earl and Josephine Morris, brothers, William St. Cyr, Keith St. Cyr, Martin Wind, and Eugene Morris, and his we-eh, Marvin White.


Honorary casketbearers will be Darold Madigan, III, Nancy Kingbird, Ken Cloud, Joy Morris, and his Sundance family.
