Michael “Myckel” Garcia of Victoria, Texas went to his heavenly rest on August 17th, 2024. He was born on June 9th, 1972, to Diola Zamora, and the late Frank Garcia.
Michael is survived by his loving Mother Diola Zamora and Stepfather David Zamora. Sister; Cynthia Lee Martinez – Garcia. Brother; Christopher Gonzales Garcia. Nephew; Christian Garcia. Great nephew; Christian “BC” Garcia.
Michael is proceeded in death by his Father Frank Garcia, and beloved sister Samantha Garcia.
Myckel was a hair stylist for 35 years. Most of his clientele started off as strangers, but became very devoted friends, and family over the years. He worked throughout Victoria, however his favorite place to work was at Diva Hair Salon which he and his sister Samantha owned until her passing in 2016. Their family-owned business which included his nephew Christian better known as “Clipper Chris” worked together with great success. Working together with them was not only a place to get your hair done, but also a place you could stop by to catch up, have a laugh, and share stories with them. Their doors were open to everyone who came by.
Myckel was loved by many friend, and family members. He had a sense of humor that could bring you to tears from sheer laughter. His alter ego – better known as Serena Lords brought the entertainment to life. While performing as Serena audiences would rise to their feet cheering him on. Michael was the kind of person who would be completely honest to the point of making you wonder “Why did I even ask?”. He was equally (if not more so) kind and giving. If he was down to his last dollar, or slice of bread. He would give it away to whomever he thought needed it more than himself. Myckel had a passion for creating. If he wasn’t doing so by styling hair, he was doing so with makeup for beauty pageants. Making all women alike more beautiful than when they walked in the salon. Along with that he also created gorgeous one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces which were such a jaw dropping statement piece for the ladies who wore them.
Myckel’s illness took him very quickly from us, and he will be missed beyond measure. As family and friends, we are very grateful for all the memories he has left us. There are so many memories/stories to share. Some of which could be shared openly and others that should be shared only with those that were there (if you know you know). All of which are special because he made them that way.
The family would like to thank Hospice of South Texas for their kind, and compassionate care while he was at the Dornburg Center of Compassion-Inpatient Center. Another special thank you to the Citizen Medical Center 5th floor nurses for their amazing care. To all our family and friends who sent words of comfort, visited Myckel and prayed for him while he was ill. Now he is no longer ill, no longer worrying, and above all no longer suffering. He now walks the streets of gold in heaven hand in hand with his best friend, and sister Samantha where there is only joy and happiness.
In Lieu of flowers we ask that you please consider donating to Hospice of South Texas.
Visitation will begin Thursday August 22nd, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Holy Rosary to start at 10:00. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
