Virgie A. Dofflemyer Duff (Doffy) Obituary
Virgie Duff, 92, died August 17, 2024. A native of Elkton, VA, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gordon Duff; and parents, Owen and Pearl Dofflemyer. Doffy retired as airport manager at Shenandoah Valley Airport. She grew up in Bethel United Church of Christ and later joined Western Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA.
Doffy is survived by two daughters, Deborah D. Angelone (Nick) and Shari D. Grandy (Bobby); two sons, Barry Gordon Duff (Margie) and David Stephen Duff (Marcia); eight grandchildren, Nicole A. Angelone, Frank Angelone, Robby Grandy, Matthew Grandy, Ben Duff, Katie Vaughn, Robby Duff and Tyler Duff; and 23 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Vero at Chesapeake Retirement Home and Wings Over Virginia Hospice for their care.
The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5-6:30 PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 2 PM at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or “plant a tree” at the funeral home website.
