Melinda Kay Zigler, 57, of Jackson, peacefully passed away in her home, surrounded by her family, on August 17th following a 20-year battle with cancer. She will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 30 years, Mitchell (Mitch) Zigler, her daughter Sage Zigler, her son Evan Zigler, her step daughters Chelsea Chartier and Ashley Zigler, and her grandchildren Eliza, Miguel, and Alexis. She will be dearly missed by her parents, James Helle and Kay (Hartman) Helle, and siblings Mark Helle and Lori Pickering, as well as many beloved friends and extended family.
Melinda was born on November 1st, 1966, in Jackson, Michigan, to James and Kay Helle. She grew up in Jackson until she moved to Issaquah, Washington, in 1977. She then relocated to Perrysburg, Ohio, in 1980 and graduated from Perrysburg High School. During her high school years, she competed in gymnastics and was a member of the women's soccer team. She continued her education and is a proud alumni of University of Toledo, followed by the Medical College of Ohio, where she completed her training to be a Physical Therapist. After finishing her education, she moved to East Lansing to work at Saint Lawrence Hospital, where she met her husband, Mitchell (Mitch) Zigler. They married on September 23rd, 1994, and have since resided in Mason, Somerset, Parma, and Hillsdale.
Melinda worked as a Physical Therapist in Litchfield at Accelerated Physical Therapy and then moved to Coldwater to work for Athletico Physical Therapy. She was cherished by her coworkers and was known for the care she provided to each patient.
Melinda was a woman of strong faith and immense strength. She was an artist who could create something amazing from anything. A huge Jimmy Buffet fan, she enjoyed going to concerts, along with her husband and daughter. She loved shopping, playing games with friends and family, and spending relaxing days at the lake. She also always had a soft spot for animals and never lived without a cat or dog in her family and home.
