Shirley Hord, 88, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 6pm until 8pm at Wiley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:30pm at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Shirley was born September 23, 1935, in Floyd County, Texas to William Everette Brown and Ethel Bell Golightly. She married Glen D. Hord on June 15, 1971, in Durant, Oklahoma. Shirley had a zest for life and enjoyed spending her time bowling, dancing, and playing bingo. Her joyful spirit was always present, whether she was striking down pins at the bowling alley, twirling on the dance floor, or eagerly waiting for her bingo numbers to be called.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband: Glen Hord; parents: William and Ethel Brown; and son-in-law: David Deslatte.
Shirley is survived by her devoted children: Billy Neighbors and wife Mendy, Tonya Deslatte; grandchildren: Trisha Bagby, Katrina Shankles and husband Kerry, LeAnn Remmers and husband Victor, Cassie Bartel and husband Jordan; great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Kyler Shankles, Cameron and Caitlin Bagby, Dakota, Braxton and Alyssa Remmers, Jude, Blake, Jackson, Callum and Charlotte Bartel; and numerous extended family and friends.
Shirley's legacy of love and happiness will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
