LuBeth Dupree, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and faith, walked into the loving arms of Jesus on August 17, 2024. Born on March 9, 1935, in Carthage, Texas, to the late Travis and Mabel Bogue, LuBeth lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1953 and later earning her teaching degree from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, LuBeth devoted many years to enlightening young minds as an elementary school teacher, a vocation she performed with grace and enthusiasm.
She married the love of her life, George Leonard Dupree Jr., on December 21, 1958, and together they shared 49 years of marriage until his passing. Their love story was one for the ages, marked by mutual respect and unwavering support. They built a family legacy that continues through their children: Michelle Saterbo and husband Bobby of Texarkana, Texas, and Emily Benson and husband Nickey of Longview, Texas. She was also "Lil' Momma" to her late son, Trey Dupree.
"MamaLu" was a beloved grandmother to David (and his wife Jennifer), Angela, Bracie (and his wife Kayleigh), Jordan (and her husband Josh), Dillon, Shaeleigh, Kasey, and Zoe (and her husband Daniel). She also delighted in her role as a great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren. Each grandchild took pride in knowing that they were, in fact, MamaLu's "favorite".
LuBeth was blessed with brothers who remain to treasure her memory, Travis Bogue Jr. and late wife Margaret of Teague, Texas, and Andy Bogue and wife Betty of Hallsville, Texas. She was also cherished by her sister-in-law Lillian Dupree Pierce and husband Alan, as well as her brother-in-law, Keith Dupree. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Jimmy Simmons. LuBeth also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved and cared for dearly.
LuBeth Dupree was a vibrant and talented individual who brought joy to many through her love of games like Skip-Bo and 42. She excelled in crocheting and was an avid sports enthusiast, participating in softball, basketball, tennis, racquetball, and volleyball. LuBeth's passion for the Texas Rangers was unmatched; she never missed a game on TV and attended many in person. Her musical talents were equally impressive, as she played numerous instruments including the guitar, drums, and keyboard. However, her greatest passion was pouring her love of God's Word into the ladies' Sunday school class at Macedonia Baptist Church in Longview, Texas, where she was a cherished member. LuBeth's warmth, dedication, and diverse talents will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Today, as we reflect on the life of LuBeth Dupree, let us hold fast to the love she showed us, the lessons she taught us, and the faith that guided her every step. May we find comfort in knowing that she rests now in the eternal embrace of our Lord, her journey complete, her legacy everlasting.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate LuBeth's life. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time, on Thursday, August 29 at Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home officiated by grandson David Markham. LuBeth will be laid to rest at Algoma Cemetery North in Marshall, Texas following the services under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
