Bernarda Matijevic Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Bernarda on August 17th 2024 peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in her 90th year. Bernarda was one of eight children to the late Feliks and Anka Geneja. Sister of Mihelena Geneja (d.), Eduard (Edo) Geneja (d.), Roza Geneja-Elmer, Boris Geneja (d.), Paula Geneja (d.), Elza Geneja (d.) and Josipa (Fina) Geneja-Zivanovic. She will be fondly remembered by her cousin Gordana and her daughter Marija along with many family and friends in Croatia and Canada. Cherished friend for over 38 years to Ruzica and her sons Anthony and Nino and his children Maya and Emma. Bernarda devoted her life to helping those who are less fortunate and children in need. She was a genuine, caring person with a heart larger than life. Bernarda was a proud supporter of the World Vision Africa helping the young girls to have a brighter future and the children who are born with cleft lip and palate to smile. A graveside service will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery on Thursday August 22, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.

We love you Bernarda and may you rest in peace
