Antonio Martinez, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Antonio Martinez, Jr., 76, of Newnan, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at his home.


Mr. Martinez, was born July 5, 1948, in Laredo, Texas, son of the late Antonio Martinez and Belen Luna Martinez. A U.S. Army veteran of service in the Vietnam War, he earned a Master’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston and served as chief financial officer of EOG Resources in Houton, TX prior to his retirement. He lived in Houston for 32 years before making his home in Newnan in 2006, and had been an active member of Saint Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church in Houston. Mr. Martinez enjoyed traveling in the United States and in Europe.


Survivors include his sisters, Gloria DeLeon (Tom), Isabel Lopez, Juanita Rangel (Carlos), Teresa Gonzalez, Mary Shipley (Bill), Beatrice Guzman (Antonio), Christine Martinez, Veronica Banda; brothers, Jerry Martinez, Steve Martinez (Michelle); and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kee Martinez; brother, Willie Martinez; and sister, Norma Martinez.


A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 22, at Saint George Catholic Church in Newnan. Father Stephen Lyness will officiate, with the Committal to follow at the Grantville Cemetery.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, with the Vigil Service to begin at 6:30 p.m.
