Terry Laney, 76, of Clinton passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute. She was born on August 15, 1948, along with her twin brother, Jerry, to Hobart Dowdy Jr. and Ruby Viola McCullough Dowdy, whom all precede her in death along with her brother David L. Dowdy.

Terry married her longtime love James B. Laney on October 15, 1966. She became a beautician in 1979 and worked until she was in her 70s. She met and became friends with many people while working. Terry raised parrots and various other birds and adored her dogs. Terry collected antiques and loved flowers and her gardens. She loved family get-togethers—especially holidays and all the traditions that they entailed.

Those surviving are her beloved husband James Laney of Clinton, her two daughters Kimberly Laney Everhart (James) of Terre Haute and Lori Laney Jacobs (David) of Clinton, four grandsons: Cody Jacobs (Mercedes), Brody Jacobs (Aarin), Wade Everhart (Tess), and Jordan Everhart (Veríssimo); four great-grandchildren: Beau Jacobs, Juliette Jacobs, Ada Everhart, and Walter Everhart; sister Patricia Cartwright; sister-in-law Pam Troutt (Frank) and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at Shirley Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at Universal Town Hall.
