Barbara Jean Bair Obituary

Barbara Jean Bair, 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at home. Born May 31, 1953, in Mechanicsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Therese (Matalavage) Shamansky.


Barbara was well-known and loved in her community, especially within the bowling circles. Her passion for bowling spanned most of her life, where she not only excelled as an avid bowler but also took on various leadership roles within local and regional bowling associations and leagues.


Barbara’s commitment to the sport extended to her role as the Greater Harrisburg USBC association manager. She was particularly dedicated to the Youth Bowling programs at Trindle Bowling Center, where she found immense joy in coaching and mentoring young bowlers. Barbara’s enthusiasm for the sport was contagious, and she was always eager to pass on her love for bowling to the next generation.


Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched through her work and her unwavering dedication to the sport of bowling.


Barbara is survived by her son, Stephen Bair and his wife Jillian of Carbondale, along with their four children: Charlotte, Michael, Elijah (EJ), and William. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Shamansky and wife Cindy of Enola.


Visitation will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Trindle Bowl – youth bowling program in Barbara’s name.
