Phyllis Merle Mondorf, 98, of Burlington, Iowa passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born on July 19, 1926 in Burlington, Iowa, to LeRoy and Blanche Hunter Leaverton. Phyllis spent her childhood in Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from high school in 1945. Phyllis married Wayne “Jack” Mondorf on August 12, 1968, in Low Moor, Iowa. Together, Phyllis and Jack built a life filled with baseball, cats, and traveling. In her later years, Phyllis enjoyed singing and visiting with friends. When family and friends asked how she was feeling, Phyllis would respond with an energetic, “I’m still here!” Though she may not still be with us, she will always be here in our hearts. Phyllis is survived by Kathleen Leaverton Murray, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, and six sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at Fun City private room 3001, Winegard Dr, Burlington, IA 52601, on Wednesday, September 25th, from 4:30-6:00 pm.
