John Lee Oesch was born September 19, 2005, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to Matthew Raymond Oesch and Amy Kochur Oesch. He passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 18 in Clearfield, Kentucky. 

John graduated summa cum laude from Lakeside Christian Academy in 2023 and was a rising Sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was formally trained at the Virgil Davis Studio where he earned a blackbelt in karate. In high school John played basketball and soccer. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved traveling, hiking, surfing, and flying. He enjoyed flying as a passenger and relished his hours as a pilot. He spent Sunday mornings at Better Life Church in Morehead, Kentucky, with family and friends. 

John is survived by his loving parents, Matt and Amy; his brother Ryan; his sister Sarah; his maternal grandparents John and Minnie Kochur; and his paternal grandmother Judy Oesch.

John's other surviving relatives include his aunts, uncles, and cousins. His maternal aunts include Beth Kochur, Katie Kochur (Neil Mccollum) and Julie Brick (Tom). John's paternal uncles and aunt include Timothy Oesch (Melody), Robert Oesch, and Debbie Oesch-Minor (Kyle Minor). John's cousins include Sydney and Jackie Johnson, Madison and Heath Brick, Ian and Dylan Minor, Sean (Hannah) Oesch and Charity Oesch, and Melissa Oesch.

John was preceded in death by his grandfather Leroy Oesch; cousin, Robby Oesch; and his close friend Josiah Hill.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Shawn Tolle officiating.  

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

The burial will be private.
