Irving Wallace Johnson, Jr. Obituary

Irving Wallace Johnson of Dover, Delaware peacefully left this world on Saturday August 17th, 2024 at the age of 85.

Irving was born on October 13th, 1938, in Oceanside, New York.

He married his wife Dorothy June 18th, 1972

He is survived by his children Denise Fuhrmeister and Irving 'Jay' Johnson III; step children Patricia Maguire and Jerry Goodmok; his grandchildren Joe Cangelosi, Rachel Cangelosi, Daniel Cangelosi, Ray Maguire, Christy Stewart, Eric Goodmok, Nicholas and Alexandria Fuhrmeister; and sibling Nancy Auletta-Schnepp

Irving, known to most as ‘Joe' graduated from Baldwin high school where he was a member of the Young Republicans club. He Joined the Navy in 1956. He received the GI Bill and with that graduated from the University of Louisville in 1963. During his time at Louisville he was a member of The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Later, he continued his education and received his Masters of Science degree in Logistic Management from Florida Institute of Technology

Joe was a devoted husband and family man who treated his step children as his own. He had a calm even keeled spirit throughout his entire life. He sought opportunities to celebrate all the good he had experienced in his time here on Earth. He enjoyed golfing, road trips and was always up for a good time with friends and family. He reminded us how he had lived a full life and how at the age of 85 he was “breaking records every day” by outliving all the men in his family before him. If he could leave us all with one lesson, which was tied into every story he’s ever told, it would be to “Carpe Diem” and seize the day you have, while it’s here.
