He was born on July 6, 1950, to Revonda Cordel (Martin) and Wesley McGaha. Lawson was a dedicated family man whose absence will be profoundly felt by many.

Lawson was raised in a large family, consisting of six brothers and five sisters, which contributed to a rich tapestry of shared experiences, laughter, and familial bonds. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Vietnam Veterans MC USA of Delaware and maintained membership at the Veterans property (Firebase Lloyd) for more than 35 years.
