Mr. William Edward Taylor, 85 of Brodhead, passed from this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Mt. Vernon, KY on December 8, 1938 the son of the late James Edward and Zula Mae Shepherd Taylor. He was a retired truck driver and served as the Rockcastle County Sheriff from 1982 through 1986. He was a lifelong member of the Shriners and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brodhead.
He is survived by three sons: Billy Wayne Taylor, Danny McClure (Jennie) and Mark McClure (Vickie), all of Brodhead; one daughter: Michelle McCormick (David) of Phenix City, Alabama; nine grandchildren: Breanna Burton, Gina Nicole Harding, Matthew Taylor, Lorrie Santo, Katelynne McClure, Monica Robinson, Jeremiah McCormick, Luke McCormick, and Maddix Johnson; twenty great grandchildren, and a brother, Kenny Taylor of Berea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife Mary Taylor; by one son Jesse Edward Taylor; two brothers: Wayne and Robert Edward Taylor; two grandchildren: Timothy Taylor and Heather Morgan and one great grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be conducted Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jake Harding. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Brodhead. Pallbearers will be Maddix Johnson, Jaden Burton, Noah Harding, Jazz Reyes, Matthew Taylor and Jordan Burton.
Visitation for Mr. Taylor will be at Dowell and Martin Funeral Home on Wednesday August 21, 2024 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. We ask that you please respect the family’s private visitation time prior to public visitation. Services will be live streamed and can be viewed at dowellmartin.com
