Freda E. Price, 93 of Marmet reunited with the Rev. Vernon "Bunk" Price, her love of 66 years on August 17, 2024 at Wyoming Health Care Center in New Richmond, WV as she passed from death unto life, going home to be with the Lord to await the resurrection day.
Freda, an esteemed member of the Marmet community, was born a coal miner’s daughter on April 8, 1931 in Boomer, WV to the late Gourley Myles and Jozetta Buckley Mitchell. She was a 1949 graduate of East Bank High School where she was a member of the cheerleader team.
A registered nurse, she graduated from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and later retired from Saint Francis Hospital after many years of service. Freda then became the Nursing Administrator at Quarry Manor which was formerly known as Hilltop Home in Charleston. “Nurse Freda” gave loving care to many patients over the years including many in her Marmet community. She became a beloved part of countless families.
Freda, the wife of a preacher, served in many capacities at several Baptist Churches. She taught Sunday school classes as well as Vacation Bible School for over 25 years. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Kanawha City.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters: Marion Ingram, Patty Whittington and Carol Kirk and beloved nephew: J.G. Ingram.
Surviving are daughter: Nancy Riser of Pineville, sisters: Jean Lokka of Hanover, PA, Terri Wilson of NC, brother: Johnny (Byrdie) Mitchell of FL, granddaughter: Kristie (Thomas) Dorado of Pineville, great grandchildren: Victoria (Blake) Carter of Pineville and Faith Dorado of Marmet and many loved nieces and nephews, church family and countless other special friends.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday August 21, 2024 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Rev. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Marmet Memorial Gardens, Marmet beside of her beloved Vernon. Visitation is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
