Leticia McLean Obituary

Leticia Reyes McLean Born 17 March 1941 in Baguio City, Philippines, took her last breath on 17 August 2024 at home in Renton, Wa, surrounded by love and holding her beloved husband’s hand.

Leticia had the face of an angel and an always inquisitive mind. She never stopped asking questions. Raised in a family of three brothers and two sisters, Leticia received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Baguio Tech. One day while working behind the counter at her sister’s Sari Sari store she met an Air Force GI from Greenock, Scotland who was stationed at Wallace Air Station, Poro Point, La Union. Leticia and Neil McLean were married in 1961.

Leticia and Neil enjoyed the next years raising their two sons, Neil and Mark in the Philippines. But then the Air Force took their family to Glasgow, Montana. It was in Montana that Leticia and her two boys obtained their U.S. citizenships. They traveled the world over the next years and when stationed at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska, Leticia and Neil had their daughter Marlo. The family of five was complete. Leticia served 22 years as an Air Force spouse. Taking care of all things at home. She was our Tiny General. Always in charge. Always the boss.

Leticia believed strongly in always continuing one’s education. Her years working at the Seattle University Bookstore brought her much joy as she served students and faculty. And when she retired from the bookstore, she was able to spend time doing more of what she wanted. Leticia was an avid watcher of movies and British television. She loved everything Asian cooking and anything that could be thrown into a wok. Leticia enjoyed the news, the newspaper and the Hocus Focus in the funny pages. Collected cookbooks, and crocheted most evenings while listening to Japanese cooking on YouTube. There was not a vegetable that she didn’t like. Leticia was challenging, stubborn and very private. A woman of strong faith. And most of all, Leticia wanted to spend as much time as she could with her husband of 63 years. Our world will never be the same.

Leticia leaves behind her husband Neil McLean, son; Neil R. McLean (Karina), daughter-in-law; Lisa McLean, daughter; Marlo McLean Wilson (Cameron), former daughter-in-law; Cha’Ree Aragon, six grandchildren, and her Tootsie Pup Russell.

Leticia was preceded in death by her son, Mark C. McLean. But we know they are together today.
