Margaret Ann Gutchess Obituary

Margaret Ann Gutchess (Pugh) was born October 22, 1944 and passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 at the age of 79. Born in Lansing, MI to Harold L. and Mary M. Pugh (Deruytter), Margaret was the youngest of three children. She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Gary Ray Gutchess, who she met on a blind date in 1967. Their marriage was a true testament of unconditional love and devotion. She is also survived by Gordon Gutchess, brother-in-law and Marlene Pugh, sister-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews who enjoyed spending time with her and sharing memories while assisting with her care. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Richard C. and Harold C. Pugh, all of whom she loved and dearly missed.

Margaret was a beautiful person inside and out. She was a loving daughter that cared for her ailing mother, a sister that truly adored her brothers, an aunt that enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and a friend that cherished every minute of every friendship. Most of all, she was a dedicated wife that loved nothing more than spending time with Gary.

Margaret was incredibly artistic which was shown through her creativity and style. She loved making jewelry, painting, sketching and sewing. She could turn a blank canvas, a handful of beads or a piece of driftwood into a work of art. She also enjoyed traveling with Gary and had visited many unique and beautiful places around the world.

There are countless memories of family holidays, competitive card games, camping trips up north, combing beaches for that perfect piece of driftwood and simply enjoying the good times; they will all be held in our hearts forever.

The family would like to extend our endless gratitude to Fresenius Kidney Care, Delta Retirement and Elara Caring for their love and compassion in caring for Margaret. Their tireless efforts and undivided attention to ensuring she was well taken care of will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30am on Friday, August 23rd at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Funeral Homes - Delta Chapel. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 10:30 am with Chaplain Chris McNeilly officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery following the service.
