Bruce Wayne Shepperd Obituary

Bruce Shepperd, 70, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 17, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long fight with cancer.

Born to Dorothy and Howard Shepperd in December 1953, Bruce was the second of seven children. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Civil Engineering and began his 46+ year career at Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources where he dedicated himself to his work as a Land Surveyor until his retirement in 2021.

Bruce married Cheryl Neisch in 1976, and together they raised two daughters. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing his family and especially sharing his love for the outdoors with his grandsons.

An avid outdoorsman, Bruce found joy in appreciating nature, hunting, and fishing. His garage was his sanctuary where he enjoyed tinkering and listening to Johnny Cash. Bruce also had a fondness for simple pleasures —getting breakfast with dry whole wheat toast and enjoying roller coaster rides.

A man of faith, Bruce was an active member of his church, finding both comfort and inspiration through his spiritual life. His commitment to his spiritual community was evident in his regular participation in Bible studies.

His generosity and willingness to help others were well-known; he was always eager to lend a hand and dive into new projects. Bruce had a profound appreciation for wildlife, often being the first to spot animals on his adventures. He enjoyed exploring new places with Cheryl, whether cruising together or taking day trips with friends to Wisconsin.

Bruce's curiosity extended to people as well; he enjoyed hearing stories and learning about others’ backgrounds. His warmth and easygoing demeanor will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl; daughters Sarah (James) White and Lisa (Dave) Wilson; grandsons Charles and Henry White; father Howard Shepperd; four sisters: Patti (Brian) Anderson, Beth Stone, Brenda (Jim) Burgess, and Pam Beirne; two brothers, Brad (Gail) Shepperd and Jason Shepperd. Preceded in death by mother Dorothy Shepperd; and two brothers-in-law, Dan Beirne and John Sheffer.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at KOZLAK RADULOVICH MAPLE GROVE CHAPEL.
