James Marshall Haigler Obituary

JAMES MARSHALL HAIGLER, age 83 of Maplesville, passed away on August 17, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Chilton County on October 24, 1940; the son of the late W.L. Haigler and the late Willodean Frith Haigler.

Marshall loved his career as a truck driver. It was his career in trucking that led him to be able to visit every state in the continuous United States with the exception of California. He enjoyed meeting people and striking up conversations with them, all while having a big smile on his face. With that personality he never met a stranger. Ultimately what made Marshall happy was his family and his love for them. He enjoyed spending time with them, sharing meals with them, eating ice cream, and even spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren with trips for ice cream.

He is survived by: Wife, Sue Haigler of Maplesville; Daughter, Pam Smitherman of Clanton; Daughter, Pat (Earl Wayne) Green of Marion; Granddaughters: Megan Bowles of Clanton, Jessica (Shane) Smitherman of Verbena, and Haley (Bradley) Bowen of Opelika; Grandson, Blake (Cheyanne) Terry of Plantersville; Great Grandchildren: Brayden Bowles, Chloe Smitherman, and Mary Ella Bowen; Brothers: Steve Haigler, Carl (Brenda) Haigler, and David (Sheila) Haigler; Sisters, Sue Calloway and Linda (Bennie) Smitherman, and Carol Haigler; Sister-in-Law, Joann Haigler; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Parents, W.L. and Willodean Haigler; Brother, Walter Haigler; Sister, Faye (Ken) Hightower; Brother-in-Law, Sonny Calloway; and Sister-in-Law, Susan Haigler.
