Nicholas Peter Copsis passed away at Atrium Pineville Hospital on August 17, 2024 from an unexpected and sudden illness.

Niko attended Christ Covenant Lutheran Preschool, Covenant Day School, Socrates Academy, United Faith Christian Academy and graduated from Marvin Christian Academy.  He loved his best friend and service dog Rudy. 

 His favorite hobby was horseback riding at Mephibosheth Farms Angelic Riders in Marshville NC every Saturday.    He enjoyed his YouTube Kid videos, Nakato Japanese Hibachi for his birthday parties and going to Walt Disney World often.  Nicholas also enjoyed going to the annual Autism Family Camp at the Diakonia Center of the Metropolitan of Atlanta Greek Orthodox Church. 

Nicholas especially loved being an altar boy at St Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church. 

 He is survived by his parents Dr. Pete and Pam Copsis; sister Anthea and brother Vasili; grandfather Nick Letsos; grandmothers Anthoula Copsis and Anna Letsos; Godfather Nick Karres; aunts Maria Tassopoulos, Georgea Stathakis, Valarie Skiouris; uncles Tim Tassopoulos, Sam Stathakis and Panos Skiouris; and cousins Luke Tassopoulos, Nicholas Tassopoulos, Theo and Bess Stathakis, Niko Stathakis, Parris Skiouris and Niko Skiouris.   Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandfather Nick Copsis.  

Nicholas was blessed with excellent and compassionate care from his physicians Dr. James Satterfield, Dr.Scott Goodman,  Dr. Teresita Nelson,  Dr. Katie VanPoppel, Dr. Yasmin Senturias, Dr. Lauren Feldman, Dr. Randall Bryant and Dr. Ken Roberts.  We are especially grateful for his long-term ABA therapist and "second mom" Shanna Hill.

 The family is  also grateful to  Father Steve Dalber and Father Andreas Houpas for their spiritual guidance, comfort and care. 

Nicholas’ funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church 5108 Kuykendall Road, Charlotte, NC 28270,  Visitation will be from 10:00 -11AM and  following funeral from 12-1PM.

His pallbearers will be Theo Stathakis, Niko Stathakis, Parris Skiouris, Niko Skiouris, Luke Tassopoulos, Nicholas Tassopoulos, Elias Giannakopoulos and Boston Palmer. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church or  to Mephibosheth Farm Angelic Riders, 820 Forest Hills School Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
